Nominations Still Open for Autauga County Small Business Awards – Elmore-Autauga News

In an ongoing effort to promote the business community and to celebrate the successes of small business in Prattville and the surrounding areas, the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce is once again asking for nominations for Small Business of the Year Awards, with a fast-approaching deadline of July 29.

Chamber President Patty VanderWal said of the awards, “Prattville and Autauga County have a variety of successful small businesses that are positively impacting our community every day. The Small Business of the Year Awards are the opportunity for these businesses to be highlighted for their service.”

The Small Business awards are designed to recognize small and growing businesses located in Prattville or Autauga County for their achievements and the important role they play in the community, said a press release from the chamber.

“The Prattville Chamber’s Small Business Committee works diligently to support and promote small businesses in Prattville and Autauga County,” said Prattville Chamber Small Business Committee Chair Catherine Porter. “These businesses are a foundation of our community, and we want to showcase their hard work and positive impact.”

VanderWal added, “As we saw with Covid-19 and other challenges, our small businesses are constantly overcoming obstacles and choosing to serve our community. Their perseverance is something that should not be overlooked. The Small Business of the Year Awards allow us to celebrate the hard work from our businesses in Prattville and Autauga County.”

Those nominating small businesses should include a “Business Overview,” sharing what the business does, including the history of the business and a description of the products and services provided, “Leadership and Community Support,” discussing how the small business is a leader in the business community and supports the local community, “Chamber Involvement,” explaining how the small business participates in and has a leadership role in the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce, and “Business Success,” including customer growth and focus, industry awards, or program initiatives.

Nominees must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be located in Prattville and/or Autauga County
  • Must be a member of good standing with the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce both at the time of the nomination and the event
  • Must have 100 or less employees
  • Must have been in business for a minimum of one (1) year
  • Must be a profitable entity, not a non-profit
  • Demonstrates a commitment to social responsibility and community involvement (volunteering, fundraising, internships, mentoring or financial contributions)

The nomination deadline is Friday, July 29, and nominations can be submitted online at The winners will be chosen by a panel of peers in various categories, based on their demonstrated commitment to the advancement of business in Prattville and Autauga County.
