MVMC EVENT: The Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition will have Ron Klonowski of Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities at its Tuesday roundtable meeting to start MVMC’s diversity, equity and inclusion series on “hidden workers.”
The roundtable focuses on individuals with disabilities.
The event is in-person at 1 pm at ClarkDietrich in Vienna. A Zoom option is also available. A meeting invite, along with a Zoom link, will be sent.
MERIDIAN LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE: Meridian HealthCare recently launched a totally redesigned website that prominently features newer service offerings and bolsters user experience.
The change coincides with Meridian’s goal of providing integrated health care for whole-personal health and wellness while providing a simplified, more intuitive user experience for both members and providers, according to the company.
The updated website at meridianhealthcare.net gives visitors a seamless experience, the company said. Visitors will notice a patient portal for appointments, simplified navigation and updated resources that focus on community education and support.
Meridian HealthCare teamed up with iSynergy, a Canfield-based digital marketing agency, for the website’s development and to activate the project with an advertising campaign centered around the concept of “hope.”
QUICKMED RECEIVES GRANT: QUICKmed Urgent Care has been chosen as the only for-profit organization to receive a grant awarded by the Ohio Department of Health and the Ohio Department of Education to increase the number of school-based health centers in qualifying schools.
QUICKmed will partner with the Salem City School District in Columbiana County and Liberty Local School District in Trumbull County to place medical clinics on their campuses.
The $1.8 million awarded to QUICKmed, Salem City and Liberty school districts will extend to 2024 and cover operational and capital expenses. Available services in the clinics will include medical, dental, mental health, audiology and ophthalmology. The clinics will be open during school hours and available to students, staff, and families.
The medical services are free to uninsured students, and there is no insurance requirement for family members.
Funding for the grant is through the American Rescue Plan Act with additional funds available through the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund.
McDONALD’S RAISES FUNDS FOR HURT WORKER: TomTreyCo McDonald’s, one of the largest franchisees in the nation, helped raise more than $30,000 for McDonald’s manager Stephanie Tubb, who was badly hurt when she was hit by a garbage truck while walking to work at a McDonald’s in Sharon, Dad.
The Mahoning Valley McDonald’s Owner Operators also participated in the fundraising effort, according to a news release.
Because of the crash, Tubb had to have both legs amputated above the knee.
TACO RESTAURANT OPENS: Columbus-based Condado Tacos will open its 33rd location June 23 in Boardman at 1051 Boardman Poland Road. It will be the chain’s 17th location in Ohio.
The 4,645-square-foot restaurant will seat 216 people, including 166 seats in the dining room, 25 in the bar and 25 on the outdoor patio.
During Condado’s grand opening celebration in Boardman, the first 100 guests in line at the restaurant will be awarded with a “Year of Yum,” one free taco every week for a whole year and also will receive a “Year of Yum” limited edition original artist designed t-shirt.
All guests will receive a free taco with a purchase and $5 signature margaritas all day long. Doors will open at 11 am following a confetti cannon celebration.
RIBBON CUTTINGS: Several
ribbon-cutting ceremonies to mark the opening of new businesses are scheduled for this week. They include:
• American Atlantic, LLC will celebrate the grand opening of its Girard location at 104 S. State St. with a celebration 11 am Tuesday at the office. American Atlantic has a national office in Cleveland and provides insurance and financial advice and products.
• High Maintenance Studio, 754 Youngstown Warren Road, Niles, will mark its opening 2 pm Thursday. The studio is a hair salon that also offers waxing, lash extensions, lip filler, massages and regular hair services as well as hair extensions.
• Warbucks Excavation LLC, 12300 Youngstown Salem Road, Goshen, will celebrate a ribbon cutting 3:30 pm Friday. It is a full-service commercial and residential excavating company that provides a wide array of other services, including demolition, land clearing, stump grinding, gravel driveway installations and materials for pick-up or delivery.

REALTOR JOINS FIRM: Coldwell Banker EvenBay Real Estate has added Gerry Brown, Realtor, to its team of real-estate professionals.
Brown, who joins Coldwell Banker EvenBay Real Estate with more than 26 years of experience, was licensed in 1996 and has been serving Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties ever since.
He also has an associate’s degree in business administration from Youngstown State University.
Brown is a recipient of the Ohio Association of Realtors President’s Sales Club.
